Note also that there is also a toggle switch on the front that sets the ‘Normally Open’ or ‘Normally Closed’ polarity of the switch (second from left in image above). The manual is not clear on how this affects a bi-stable shutter. For consistency within KPF, all shutter controllers should be set to ‘N.O.’. Each KPF VED VED24 has a label on the front to indicate this, as show in the picture above.
To manually operate a shutter, one can click the N.O./N.C. switch back and forth. However, be sure to leave it at ‘N.O.’ when done.
Two cables are needed to connect the VED24 and the DSS25B shutter, as shown in the photo of Ashley’s lab setup below.
