• Max is safety coordinator and expert on ergonomics

• Working with Erin, Andrew, and Randy on safety

• High risk items include repetitive motion and desk work because so likely

• Jeanette is main contact for chairs, and desks.

• Josie for computer equipment

Max:

• Background is as paramedic and doctor of chiropractic

• Discussed workstation layout in RO2

• Discussed computers, screens, chairs, mice, keyboard.

• Gave example models of some of the above.

• Questions

  • Standing desks: try standing for short periods to get used to it

  • Using special chairs such as exercise balls or similar also takes practice and working up to

  • Kyle: what level of financial support is org committed to? Randy: for ergonomics, org will be generally responsive. Don't know budget.

  • Jim: is there project/budget for remote ops shared space? Randy: CI project for OA workstation, UNO also has something going on.

• If Josh and Sherry have limited availability next semester due to KPF, that makes K1 somewhat thin

• KPIC is not facility so “none of us need to support it”

  • We didn’t offer KPIC, but there are proposals for it

  • KPIC team will support those, we support PyWFS

Flexible telescope scheduling

Discuss ideas on, engineering nights, give back science, director’s discretionary time, fast track science, etc.

• Struggle with Eng time process

• Each month we scramble to make best use of Eng nights

• Is there a better way?

• John was wondering about DD time, no amount mentioned to Randy. Anticipating that JWST (and later Rubin) will add to need for DD time.
