  • Quick action by Eric/TonyR prevented serious damage

  • Put back in place 9/21

  • Incident investigation ongoing

  • As with incidents like this, there were multiple things that went wrong

Cal Association

MaxB

For new instruments, what are the

  • Updating an existing ICD for new instruments

  • Minimum cals

  • Calibration association ideas

  • Loaded Q: what about existing instruments?

  • Josh: require an enumeration of instrument modes, each with an order of mag estimates of how long cals will take

  • Josh: don’t impose a particular calibration association strategy, but ask for one

  • Max: also require doing DCS scrubbing to protect target info during cals

  • Max: how to manage a list of bad files for the DRP

    • How? Who does it? Where does the info live?

Summit power shutdown

Jim/All

  • Summit automatic transfer switch (ATS) and breaker replacement scheduled for Nov 6/7 (install/test)

  • Full power off on summit for up to 2 hours

  • What are the instrument risks?

  • Will write up for decision makers

Percy may not be able to make this, but gave some thoughts:

  1. Risk of troubles while booting a system will delay the power on of Lakeshores or other temperature controllers

  2. While normally robust to comms issues, perhaps a Lakeshore comes up incorrectly

  3. Would greatly prefer to have a UPS

  4. Is there a specific order to bring servers up for each instrument? Does booting a server also bring up the software automatically?

  • Current ATS (switches between HELCO and generator) has been deemed end of life and needs to be replaced

  • All power will be off, generator and HELCO

  • Estimated to take 1-2 hours

  • CCRs will be off. Guideline is for instruments to be able to handle 1 hour of CCR off for reconfig

  • Instrument UPSs will still be active, but will not last for the full 1-2 hours unless we shut off some of the draw.

    • Grant did some minimal inventory a few months back

  • Next SA meeting: have draft for each instrument

  • Meet next week?

2:21

Astropy Workshop

Sherry

  • Max: opportunities for other conversations with astropy people (e.g. IERS database issues)

2:23

KSM download

All

  • So, anything interesting happen?

  • Need to make a NIRES piñata with SA morale money

  • Max: have suggested people apply to KVSP for DRP work

    • e.g. PypeIt DEIMOS for new detector, no current plan

    • PypeIt just got NSF POSE grant, includes 0.5 FTE for Keck for 2 years

  •
