• Still in pier repair

  • Greg is doing the pier repair and it seems his conflicting support has been covered by Rosalie and Percy

• K2 shutter is still weird, work today to see can it drive under computer control?

  • Use contractors to replace wire rope

  • More work next year?

    • Still being decided since we need more information on how the shutter is working

  • Additional monitoring of speed imbalances

  • OAs have stopped opening early

  • Keep aware of procedural changes in the future

  • Top shutter still limited to 100 degrees. Almost there.

• Rosalie, will K2 keep parking at 55 degrees? Yes, except in bad weather, then it will be at 24 degrees

  • Seems to be a gap when closed.

  • Does it affect dome flats?

Observer-facing pages/tools/workflow could use a refresh. What ideas does the team have?

• Get rid of small caps on observer page for better legibility

• Common obstacle - verification code doesnt update easily when they change institutions and email addresses

• Add ability to upload a picture to the observer page rather than sending to an email.

  • Maybe REQUIRE a picture before they can change their email

• Make it easier to upload files needed for observing without having to access computers here

• Automatic RTI download page - not functional or useful for observers as of now

• New observing planning tool - a bit difficult

• Be ready to be listening to observers at KSM and reassure them

• Login with token, then logging in again is frustrating

• On observing page, gives the name of one’s SA for their run, but not an email. Might be good to include that?

Pier repair

• Seems to be going well

• Going up at 6am rather than 7am to not overload HP kitchen

• Return to science for K1, met with Ben and Luke

  • changes to cleaning the facility upcoming

  • LRIS in cass this time when we return to science

• Any issues with temperatures? Running the room warmer during pier repair

  • No temp problems seen so far

• Exploring the cooling on K2 for HAKA, SCALES

  • Issues in the past with K2 AO

• K2 AO shut down for first 4 months of 2026, want to be ready to get cool again quickly afterward

• Purchases for instruments need to be worked out

  • Observing support doesnt have a budget for procurement

  • This money has always flowed from summit expenses

  • We need ethernet cables for summit!!!! Then you can log in through the extra phone ports - stored under office bench in J. Valiant and D. Patterson’s offices

  • There are extra ethernet cables in the control room
