• Welcome Gloria!

  • Gloria attends summit morning meetings, so can relay messages

• SA hiring

  • Bad news: likely not going to be able to bring Peter on board. If can’t get things sorted out by end of September, then offer will be rescinded.

  • Will try to get 2 candidates out of current pool.

  • Pool is quite strong, some repeat candidates.

  • Have 30-40 candidates, many not qualified. ~8-10 are worth considering. 4 or 5 are strong.

  • Gender diversity is not great in the pool.

  • Some candidates had to be excluded due to Visa limitations.

• Since there are so many schedule adjustments, please be on the look out for schedule issues or holes.

• Next week all day management retreat. Focus on budget and long term planning for COVID situation stretching out.

• NASA appreciates that we’re still open. Getting visibility in NASA for that.

  • NEOWISE and Venus observations are important.

  • Ok with scaling back 21A ambitions.

  • Happy with KPF funding.

• Lots of COVID risk level discussions every day.

• Please take “pulse survey” that was just sent around.

• County limit is 10, so just SAs?

• John has been mind mapping some of this, but the real planning will start soon. Will need lots of input from SAs and OAs.

• Get advice from other observatories: yes.

• Concern about scripts and level of work needed to replace/improve all of those
