Words from Randy

Randy

  • Second SA hire: Lundquist has accepter offer. Also starting March 1.

  • Juan Carlos will be leaving Keck at the end of the year to be Sr. AO Scientist at GMTO

  • We will be opening up a position for AO Operations Scientist

1:10

FY21 Plan

Randy

  • Displayed priority list of projects

  • Beware of upcoming schedule collision of projects arriving at Keck: LFC, KPF FIU, KPF, KCRM in first half of 21

  • Some changes to monthly meetings with Randy will happen due to new HR “rounding” plan. Changes relatively minor since we were already doing similar meetings.

Words from John

John

  • Request from Erin: look at ergonomics training

  • FY22 planning will be rather different than FY21

  • FY22 plan should be on time

Calibration Time on Telescope

Jim

  • “We’re all on the same team”

  • Next steps: Dwight, Jim, Kekoa will go through procedures

  • Goal: instrument release earlier than now, telescope release (for instruments which need dome cals) around 3:30. Be more aggressive on reserving morning calibration time as well.

  • We should review “minimum acceptable calibrations”. Think about SNR as the determinant.

  • Lots of tradeoffs in telescope release time
