This diagram shows how the various KPF devices are connected into the KPF Private Network, and how the KPF system connects to the observatory network and infrastructure.
System layout notes:
The KPF system is distributed throughout the observatory, as outlined here.
A network switch is placed at each location if the number of devices warrant one.
These network switches connect to the ‘KPF Main Switch’, which acts as the central hub within the KPF Private Network
The KPF Private Network does not directly connect to the WMKO ‘ops’ network. Instead the KPF computers act as bridges between the ‘ops’ network and the KPF Private Network. Therefore one must have access to a KPF computer in order to gain access to the KPF Private Network.
