LRIS
Overview: We want to keep power on to the red and blue ccd controllers in order to maintain stable temperatures during the power shutdown.
Assumption: The whole instrument is on UPS power with only the red/blue detector controllers on in order to run the heaters.
If pass through power is available, the entire instrument can be shut down and brought up again on the UPS and the following procedure can be followed.
If the entire instrument cannot be on battery power, we want the following two components on battery
Power |
| |
---|---|---|
Keyword # | Switch AC # | Components Controlled |
13 | 14 | Red Side CCD Camera Power Supply / Controller Electronics |
27 | 12 | Blue Side CCD Power Supply / Controller Electronics |
Procedure Before power down:
Prepare instrument:
Remove stingers from LRIS dewars
Open up electronics bays by removing the two back instrument panels:
Shut down power to everything other than the blue saddle bag and red archon:
Power down CCDs
From lrismonored > modify -s lredccd ccdpower=off
From manuka > modify -s lrisblue ccdpow=0
OPEN Instrument Tech > Start VNC Viewers
PULLDOWN Workspace Menu in VNC Viewer. SELECT: LRIS Engineering > LRIS Power Control.
On ‘LRIS Power Control’ GUI > Power off all components except blue saddlebag and red ccd archon
Proceed to shutdown the servers in the following order:
vm-lris (
128.171.95.37
)puako (adcserver) (
128.171.95.132
)lrismonored (
10.95.1.71
)manuka (
128.171.95.107
)
Procedure during the power down:
Nothing to monitor
Procedure to bring back the system
Bring up servers in the following order:
manuka
lrismonored
puako (adcserver)
vm-lris
Power up instrument:
From workspace menu SELECT: LRIS Engineering > LRIS Power Control.
From ‘LRIS Power Control’ GUI SELECT All Power ON.
From workspace menu SELECT: LRIS Engineering > Show Power
VERIFY power status ON.
From workspace menu SELECT: LRIS Engineering > Test all LRIS systems
VERIFY instrument status is OK.
From workspace menu SELECT: LRIS Engineering > Checkout LRIS and follow the script. If power remained on, ok to enter NO at prompt.
Delayed Recovery
What to do if the recovery takes longer and we need to worry about warming up. What are the triggers for starting to pump? Assume that there is no communication to the summit (computer or phone) and that servers are down. I.e., what to check on the Lakeshore screen and ion pump readout?
