Introduction

This page includes details for the hollow cathode lamp (HCL) power supplies. Four HCLs are used in KPF:

  • Thorium-Argon ‘Daily’

  • Thorium-Argon ‘Gold’

  • Uranium-Neon ‘Daily’

  • Uranium-Neon ‘Gold’

Note initially we had four Photron P209 power supplies for the HCLs, but one failed in December 2022 and Photron proved difficult to work with. We then moved to a Green Scientific power supply as a replacement (although unfortunately these are only set up for 220V, hence a voltage adapter is needed).
