• Update on K1 pier repair:

  • Board approved reserve funding to proceed with plan

  • Repair rest of K1 pier in 2 installments (2 shutdowns) starting March-ish of next year (6.5 weeks each)

  • Probably March and Nov of 2025

  • Other work at same time?

    • Possible, but limitation on number of people at summit

  • Marc and Carolyn are to look at pier repair passing with DEIMOS and KCWI upgrades. Need K2 dark instrument.

  • Greg: replace cold head on OSIRIS? and maybe MOSFIRE?

    • Will be dust in dome, OSIRIS ok, but maybe not MOSFIRE

  • Complements on EQ handling from Mike

  • UNO: Req to add POC form for specific UNO feedback

  • Leadership is eager to have instrument suite evolution (ISE) committee. ISE mandate is to present to SSC in May

• SCALES Update

  • Anticipate delivery in summer 2025

  • Andy will be on sabbatical here starting then

  • Isabel Kain will be here long term as well

  • Retire NIRSPAO when SCALES arrives

    • no NIRSPAO starting sometime in 25B

    • this proposal cycle is the last chance for this RA range (not advertised)

  • PyWFS retirement is endorsed

  • New ME (Ellie O’Brien) will be installing AO crane in K2

  • Liz is helping Matt B document what s/w changes are needed for a new instrument computer

    • This group should take a look, talk to Matt

  • Problems with tip tilt steering mirror (TTSM), returned to PI

  • Detector controller is new: MACI

    • Who is doing software for that? UCLA we think

  • What is cooldown and warmup time?

    • ~1.5 weeks

    • To cool down there is a LN2 pre-cool. If we don't use that, cool down will take longer.

  • Cold heads (2) will be 1050s similar to MOSFIRE

  • Who is Keck software rep?

    • Kyle for overall instrument interface

    • Some sharing with Matt

    • KL: have done very little from Keck side, haven’t seen anything

  • Who are SAs?

    • Has been Jim, but being reconsidered

    • No deputy yet, but Carlos has been involved

  • MOSFIRE server upgrade

  • Jim moves that we don’t backfill ESI. Grant can do that if needed.

• KOA Interface

  • Direct things to Jeff for now?

  • Do we plan to fill the KOA role from this group?

  • Maybe. Have always had (CHL, Luca, Hien)

• Action on Jim to look at support coverage and send draft

  • Update Jim if block out dates need to be updated
