  • Will proceed with offer soon, single position only for now (only 1 position authorized at the moment)

  • Randy has to rejustify and re-submit position for the position which was originally going to Peter

  • John: will add his weight to get the second position authorized

  • Will probably bring a third person for interviews/lunch talk if second position is authorized

• New slit mask policy is out, 4 teams already contacted John

  • Jim: Do we need to document process for approval/denial decision?

  • John: yes, but so far just check with summit if there is a problem

  • Percy: is there a concern that summit won’t say “no” to Chief?

  • John: maybe, but trying to use this to encourage users to get masks in on time to mitigate the problem a bit

  • John will mention at SSC meeting to help spread word

instrument changes for summit schedule

• If there is an instrument installation schedule change, Gloria needs to change database so that manual summit schedule changes don’t get overwritten automatically.

• Gloria is being proactive in talking to summit crews.

• Greg: Usually MASG wants to see proposed change. What is right sequence?

  • MASG first, then Gloria.

  • Or Gloria can bring it to MASG.

Can we drop the VNC password for numbered accounts?

• In a new RemoteObserving software version with better management and scheduling of keys and a frequent rotation of the firewall password, can we just drop the need for VNC password on the numbered accounts? It doesn’t seem to add much security.
